What does NoviFS do?

Your Mac can open drives formatted for Windows (NTFS), but it can't save to them. NoviFS adds full write access: copy, edit, rename and delete files on NTFS hard drives, SSDs, USB sticks and SD cards, right in Finder.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once and keep it, with free updates. Plans are by how many Macs you use it on: 1, 2 or 10.

Do I need macFUSE, a kernel extension, or to lower my Mac's security?

No. NoviFS is built on FSKit, Apple's own framework for file systems that run as a normal app extension. There's nothing to install in Recovery mode and nothing to turn off. You switch it on once in System Settings, and that's it.

Which Macs does it work on?

Any Mac running macOS 15.4 (Sequoia) or later, including macOS 26 (Tahoe) and newer.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yes. Download NoviFS for free and check that it finds your drives. Without a license, drives stay read-only. Buy a license when you're ready and writing turns on straight away, no reinstall.

The NoviFS switch in System Settings won't stay on. What do I do?

On some Macs, macOS has a bug in the 'By App' view of Login Items & Extensions (it affects other file-system apps too). Scroll to Extensions, change 'By App' to 'By Category', click the info button next to File System Extensions, and turn on NoviFS File System there.

How many Macs can I use it on?

As many as your plan includes, at the same time. You can move a license to a new Mac whenever you like: on the old Mac, open NoviFS ▸ Settings ▸ License ▸ Move to Another Mac.

My old Mac is broken or lost. How do I move my license?

Sign in to My Account with your purchase email and remove the old Mac, then activate on the new one. If you get stuck, email support and we'll free it for you.

Is it safe for my files?

NoviFS uses NTFS-3G, the open-source NTFS engine that Linux systems have relied on for well over a decade. Like with any drive, eject it before unplugging (in Finder or with Eject in NoviFS) so every write is finished, and keep backups of anything important.

Does it work with exFAT or FAT32 drives?

Those already work on every Mac without extra software, so NoviFS leaves them alone. NoviFS is for NTFS, the format Windows uses for most drives.

Which currency do I pay in?

Prices are in US dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts it; some banks add a small foreign-transaction fee.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Email support and we'll help. If it still doesn't work out, you get a full refund within 14 days of buying.

Where's the source code?

The part of NoviFS that reads and writes NTFS is built on NTFS-3G, which is licensed under the GPL, so its source code is available to every customer from the Source code page.
